A Community Initiative
The Northern Spay Neuter Program works WITH communities to plan strategies for long term animal management. This includes assisting the community to link with dog and cat rescue organizations in an attempt to place strays or surrendered animals if so desired; offering clinics that will spay and neuter dogs and cats, vaccinate and treat them for parasites as well as give them an ear tattoo for future identification. It may also include ongoing assistance (if requested by the community) in the development of a management plan or bylaws. There is also an optional educational component that can be delivered to students in the school.
It is never our intention to tell a community how it should care for its animals. Every community is different and has different needs. NSNP will only work with a community when formally invited to do so by the Chief and Council. At this point NSNP will enter into an agreement with the community to assist in the completion of all steps required to result in a spay neuter clinic for that community.
